Meg's Crochet Rainbow Zipper Coin Purse

My niece wants me to teach her how to crochet, so I had to find a project that was easy but still fun to do. My first crochet project was wash cloths but I cant imagine that would be all that exciting for a teenage girl. This coin purse is easier than it looks. All you do is crochet a flat round in a specific color order and then fold in half. It’s a very quick project and would make a great gift or first pattern to follow!

Materials Needed For Project:

Size G crochet hook

#4 weight yarn I used Sugar ‘n Cream cotton yarn. The colors I used are soft violet, hot blue, hot green, yellow, hot orange, and rose pink.

9” YKK zipper I used a princess pink (color # 515)

Needle and thread

Abbreviations:

DC = Double Crochet

Ch = Chain

Slst = Slip Stitch

To start Ch 4 and join with Slst with purple yarn

purple

Round 1: With purple yarn Ch 3 (This will count as first DC every time.) Then DC 11 more times and join with Slst. (You should have 12 stitches total)

blue

Round 2: Join the blue yarn Ch 3, DC in same space, then continue to 2DC between every stitch and join with a Slst. (You should have 24 stitches total.)

*When looking at the circle the chains look like spokes on a wheel you insert crochet hook between each spoke (space) when working a round.

Next fold your flat circle like a taco and pin your zipper in place and hand stitch it on. Then flip and repeat on other side.
